Let your light Shine before others

“No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Jesus commanded us to shine our lights before others, especially the unsaved world. This is a command, not a request.

As Christians, we are reflectors of Christ’s light, as the moon reflects sunlight. If we reflect Christ's light, we must do so in the darkness for those who don’t know Christ as the light. This will require intentionality: purposefully living as a disciple while obeying the commands he gave us.

Discipleship is our primary calling as Christians, salvation and receiving the light of Christ is solely to reflect it to others, giving hope to the hopeless. Except for that light, there will not be a clear hope and direction in this dark and hopeless world. That is why Christ had to die, to prepare us a new way with new hope. That hope is to be seen, not just heard; we are commanded to show it to others. If we don't show it, they cannot see. This is why it's a command: salvation is urgent.

Finally, as John mentioned, if we have the faith, it must be seen because it reflects the source. We are reflectors of our light, Jesus Christ, and if our light isn't shining, we don't have it. Having Christ is something we claim on the stage or in words alone, but it is what we live through in our daily lives. So let's be intentional about shining our light glorifying out our source Jesus Christ.

May God bless us!
